Visit the Kvarner bay, enjoy the beaches and explore the surroundings

I’m starting to think that through this blog journey I’m also discovering to you a lot about myself, not just Croatia. I hope you don’t mind ;)
So this time I have decided to share with you one of my favourite quotes, which is “Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.” Traveling and collecting moments, making memories, meeting new people, new cultures – it really makes you a happier and better person :)

So this time I’ll give you a suggestion for your next journey – Kvarner! Let’s take another look on the map: you already know where Istria is, the biggest Croatian peninsula. If we say that Istria is a triangle, on its right side you’ll see a bay in the Adriatic Sea with couple of islands. Add to this sea-and-islands-picture a mountain landscape and this is Kvarner! Breathtaking Kvarner offers numerous possibilities: emerald green to blue Adriatic Sea and its beaches, Risnjak National Park, Northern Velebit National Park, Ucka Nature Park, forests in the inland of Gorski kotar… Explore culture, history or sport activities! It’s up to you and your preferences!

Did you know that the third biggest city in Croatia, Rijeka, was famous and well known already during the Habsburg Monarchy? Did you know that Opatija, also known as the “Pearl of the Adriatic”, was first climatic seaside resort on the Adriatic Sea and visited by crowned heads (for e.g. empress Sisi) and famous personalities because of health benefits? Did you know that Lovran is also known for chestnuts? Did you know that Risnjak got its name from ris, the Croatian word for lynx? Would you like to experience the summer carnival in Vinodol? Would you like to visit the sanctuary in Trsat on a hill above the city of Rijeka? Or just enjoy on one of the beautiful beaches? Most of the towns and villages with lovely beaches are set on the foot of Ucka Mountain. This is the right place to experience the real Mediterranean atmosphere and beauty and yet it is just a short drive away from the mountains and cooler air. Or just take a walk down the beautiful 12 km long waterfront Lungo Mare. In Kvarner there are stone beaches, pebble beaches, rocky beaches, beaches with hidden coves and cliffs, beaches awarded with Blue Flags for quality standards and clear sea. Sandy beaches can be found in the Crikvenica area and on the islands. If you are searching for more privacy or nudist beaches, the numerous secluded ones are a perfect choice.
