Venetian defense systems of the 15th and 17th centuries in Zadar and Sibenik
When we talk about history-telling places, this is the perfect example -
the fortifications of the former Republic of Venice. The Venetian Defense System consists of six individual centers, most of which are in Italy. However, two of them can be found in Croatia - the grand defense system of Zadar and the great St. Nicholas fortress in Sibenik, which have been included in the world heritage.
St. James Cathedral in Sibenik
You can visit an extraordinary monument of sacred architecture in
the town of Sibenik. What makes this cathedral so special is a structure that was
built entirely of stone, namely stone brought from Croatian islands. It is the most important building of the 15th and 16th centuries in Croatia and was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
Old Town of Trogir
The town of Trogir is
located on a small island between the mainland and the island of Ciovo. While walking through this city, you will experience a breath of the past - churches and palaces will take you back to the time of the Venetians, and every part of this town testifies to the most important historical events.
In Trogir, you can visit the tower of St. Marko and the fortification of Kamerlengo from the 15th century or visit the treasury, the monastery of St. Dominik and the main square named after Pope John Paul II.
St. Lovre's Cathedral is definitely the most important monument in this city, as it combines different architectural styles from the period from the 13th to the 17th century.

Diocletian’s Palace in Split

built as a summer residence by Emperor Diocletian, which also served as a military camp. This building will simply delight you with its magnificent appearance - large towers, magnificent gates, charming verandas and spacious corridors. Although the palace has changed its appearance over the centuries, the outline of a real imperial palace can still be seen today. When strolling through the Diocletian's Palace, don't miss the cellars, which are known as one of the best preserved complexes in the world.

Stecci - Medieval gravestones

peculiarity of Croatian culture - Stecci, medieval tombstones decorated with figures and inscriptions that date from the period between the 12th and 15th centuries. There are approximately 4000 Stecci in Croatia, in Cista Velika near Sibenik, in Mala Crljivica east of Split and in Dubravka, south of Dubrovnik.
