“
Game of Thrones” - the
most successful HBO series of all time, that selected its locations in various destinations in Croatia. One of them is located in the south of Croatia, whose old town was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Dubrovnik is known as the “
Pearl of the Adriatic” and offers a lot of tourist attractions that were also created as the locations of the series. The
fortress Lovrijenac, the Pile Gate, Gradac Park, Rector's Palace and also the approx. 2 km long city wall with the Minceta tower, which offers a breathtaking view over the old town, make this place so special. Due to the popularity of the series, even Game of Thrones city tours are offered.
If you want to travel back in time to ancient times, head a little further north of Dubrovnik to the city of
Split. Probably the most famous scene in the series was filmed in the heart of the city, in
Diocletian's Palace and in the nearby

Mamma Mia”, which has the same name as the Abba Song, discovered the perfect locations for romantic scenes on the
mysterious island of Vis. The island has beautiful beaches and bays. The quite unknown island experienced its tourism boom after the movie filming. If you have ever dreamed of putting on Meryl Streep's shoes, the island is definitely worth a visit.
The city of
Rovinj, which is located on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula, has been transformed into a film set for the movie “
Hitmans bodyguard”. Well-known actors Salma Hayek, Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson described this city as a “magical place”. Surely we agree with their opinion, because it offers a
special romantic atmosphere. The walks through the artist's alleys, sunsets over the sea, boat trips and much more will enchant you.
The small town of
Opatija, which is located in the Kvarner Bay, should not be missed. The
biography about the British princess Lady Diana was filmed in this coastal city. Discover the statue “Girl with the Seagull”, which is the symbol of Opatija, the Franz Josef Promenade also known as “Lungomare” and the
Croatian “Walk of fame” in picturesque surroundings. The coastal city has been a legendary health resort since the 19th century, where numerous European emperors and kings, writers and composers were inspired. Graffitis of well-known personalities embellish a wall in the famous Angiolina Park, with the sentence “I was in Opatija too”. Did you know that even Albert Einstein was in Opatija?
