A selection of dog-friendly beaches in Dalmatia for a relaxing holiday

Not only for Dalmatians! Where you and your furry companion can relax

Are you interested in one of our villas with pool in Dalmatia and wonder what you can do with your four-legged friend? Of course you don’t have to do without beach and sun. Neither should our furry friends. ☺ Therefore, it is important to know which beaches are pet-friendly. In order to make your holiday planning a bit easier, we have summarized the dog-friendly beaches of Dalmatia for you in this article.

Northern Dalmatia - The mainland

On the pebble beach south of the center of Starigrad-Paklenica you can find relaxation. The large pine trees provide natural shade on hot summer days and the shallow shore is particularly suitable for children, but also for dogs. Located at the campsite, the beach offers attractive contents. You can, for example, go pedal boating and canoeing or play beach volleyball. Show off your skills on the minigolf course.

The inhabitants of the village Karin Gornji near Novigrad are known for their hospitality and animal friendliness. Dogs are allowed on the pebble beaches in the outdoor areas, which are partly covered with concreted spots and interspersed with stones. Especially nice - on the beach there is a grassed area with park benches where you can rest with your dog, but also have fun and play.

Magistrala Drage on the Biograd na Moru Riviera is a beautiful natural, rocky pebble beach with adjoining forest. It is ideal for bathers who appreciate their peace and want to enjoy seclusion in nature. There is no infrastructure - so remember to bring enough provisions. Tip: Also bring a firm base for lying down. Thus, you can also make yourself comfortable on the forest floor and enjoy the aromatic forest scent combined with the salty sea breeze. As with all rocky natural beaches, be careful here: sea urchins are between the stones, but thanks to the crystal clear water they can be found quickly. So keep an eye on your dog and his paws.
These beautiful beaches are not far from our pet-friendly and luxurious villas in Zadar.

In the centre of the coastal town of Vodice is the small dog beach Stara Skola. The beautiful pebbles, clear sea, but also the location make the beach very attractive. Unfortunately, there are no shady areas. So please remember to bring a sunshade and enough drinking water. You will certainly also find refreshment in cafés and restaurants nearby.

Another pebble beach is located in the small village of Zatoglav on the Rogoznica Riviera. You can enjoy the fine gravel under your feet or paws on the outside areas. In some parts the entrance to the sea is flat and therefore very pleasant and suitable for families. However, the shore can also be stony and the sea is deep. Many small landing stages are suitable for a jump into the refreshing sea. Your dog should also be pleased! ☺

Northern Dalmatia - The islands

Island of Pag

The Simuni campsite, which is located in the village of the same name, has a total of six rocky and pebbly beaches with all the comforts that campsites offer. For example, there is a post office and exchange office, but of course there is also a playground for children, as well as many gastronomic facilities. There is also a wellness area and the possibility to do sports. For example, you can climb, surf, but also play football. "The White Seagull Beach" is the only beach where dogs are allowed. Furthermore, there is a small area for dogs next to the "Two Sailors Beach".

Island Vir

Duboka Draga, northwest of the village of Lozice, is a quiet, wild sandy beach on the open sea with a special natural feature - it is surrounded by red sandstone rocks. Unfortunately, there is no infrastructure. So think of your sunshade and co., which by the way you don't have to carry so far. Public parking spaces are available nearby.
Northeast of Puntadura is the romantic beach Meka, where you can enjoy fantastic sunsets. Although it is a rocky beach, it is still popular with families and dog owners alike. Numerous pine trees provide natural shade. The entrance to the sea is mostly flat and the seabed is fine sand.

Besides shady places there are concrete plateaus with stairs leading into the sea, passages with gravel, but also a lawn for sunbathing. In the village there is a shop with irregular opening hours.

Island of Dugi Otok

Dogs are welcome at the edge of the beach in Soline, in the northwest of the island of Dugi Otok. On site you can go pedal boating and jet skiing, diving and snorkelling. Two beach bars provide for the physical well-being of the bathers. For nudist lovers there is a separate bathing area. Public parking spaces are available.
The beach Lucica, which is located southeast of the Marina of Jezera, has very similar characteristics. It is also a pebble and rocky beach with a separate bathing area. Cafés and restaurants are located in the marina, where you can also park. Children will love the water slide, which guarantees splashing fun.
