The beautiful Villa Angelo is part of a group of 18th century stone houses in the scenic hilltop town of Motovun dating back to Roman times. Originally the town's customs house, this sunny property is South-facing with a large terrace and infinity pool and gardens overlooking the beautiful valley below.
It is ideally located within the old town, just 5 minutes walk from the town centre at the top of the hill.
The property has been lovingly restored over three decades using the finest local materials. Each space has been created with imagination - starting with the Istrian limestone floors and kitchen, reclaimed timber cupboards, the exquisite handmade tin-lined copper bath, and a steam room lined in grey Italian porcelain tiles.
The villa is arranged over three floors and 200 square meters of internal space. The ground floor consists of a sophisticated limestone kitchen fitted with modern appliances and a rustic wooden dining table as well as a spacious living area with French windows giving on to a full length loggia and terrace. The terrace offers a spectacular panorama of the valley. The outdoor dining table sits beneath a wooden beamed loggia whilst the other half has a sun bed open to the sky and is ideal for enjoying the sun during the day.
The first floor consists of two bedrooms and three bathrooms, the third bedroom bedroom is located in the spacious attic. Each bedroom is air-conditioned and offers a luxurious king sized bed. The attic bedroom has two additional single beds, therefore this bedroom is ideally suited for children. The master bathroom has a spectacular bateau bath and a walk-in shower. There is also a second shower room lined in limestone. All of the bedrooms have panoramic views looking towards the forested hillside and the valleys lined with vineyards.
The uniquely stunning infinity pool offers uninterrupted views over the Motovun valley. Lying beneath the pool is a beautiful mediterranean garden with a mixture of trees, shrubs, flowers and scented herbs - there is also a further sun bed which is ideal for secluded reading and enjoying the mountain air and view. Guests can enjoy the flora via a garden pathway and both the pool and garden can be illuminated at night. Situated through a doorway at the end of the garden is the steam room which also offers aroma and colour therapy.
The pool, steam room and garden are for the exclusive use for the guests of Villa Angelo. They sit two stories below the house and are accessed by a separate entrance from the main street, approximately 20 meters from the front door of the villa.
Wireless internet is available throughout the property and free parking for 2 cars is located between 100m and 500m from the front door; the beautiful town square is a five-minute walk from the house.
Even though it is a semi-detached property, you will have all the privacy you need, as no-one lives in the surrounding properties during the rental season.
The pool is up to 2.80m deep with a shallow end at 1.4m. However, arm floats are provided, if you are arriving with children :)

The captivating hilltop town of Motovun is surely the most famous and attractive Istrian medieval town and one of the characteristic symbols of the Istrian interior. Exuding true Istrian charm, Motovun is known as a town-monument and offers spectacular views across hills blanketed with vineyards, hamlets and farmhouses, and the magical forested Mirna Valley - the longest river in Istria.
Traditional local festivities as well as a renowned international film festival are hosted here, bringing this peaceful little town to life. It is also famous for local Teran and Malvazija grapes, virgin olive oil, home-made cheeses, prosciutto, barbecued meats, and of course white and black truffles, all of which can be sampled in restaurants within the many villages and towns of the area. There are numerous hiking and cycling trails, one of the most stunning of them being the historical Parenzana, the old railroad route, which is used today by walkers, cyclists, as well as offering a unique ride on a tourist train. Horseback riding, a round or two of golf, hunting, paragliding, or just enjoying the thermal waters of the nearby spa town add to this long list of activities.
Besides Motovun, visit Grožnjan - the “Town of Artists” with its beautiful art galleries and studios and Hum - the smallest town in the world. But the number of towns and villages to visit is too long to list; this is the heart of Central Istria, one of the most beautiful spots in the world.
The main coastal resorts of Umag, Novigrad, Porec and Rovinj quickly reached along excellent roads, provide extremely varied leisure facilities, good nightlife, bars and restaurants.
