The charming little hamlet of Butkovici offers the perfect opportunity to experience the gentle, relaxed pace of life still typical of rural Istria today. Cca. 15 km away, Svetvincenat is an appealing local town with an imposing medieval, stone castle at its heart and a good selection of amenities including a chemist, post office and a couple of restaurants. Pretty pebble beaches can be found to the north and south of Rovinj (around a 20-minute drive) and be sure to visit the region capital, Pula, where a magnificent Roman amphitheatre hosts regular film screenings, cultural events and live concerts by world-famous artists. Also, 14 km away Vodnjan is a charming town with visible Venetian influence in its many medieval houses and narrow winding streets full of shops and cafes, and outdoor life. 22 km away is the small town of Fazana, which has its own lovely harbour from where you can hire boats and water taxis to take you to the fabulous national park islands of Brioni. You can swim on Fazana’s lovely pebbly and very clean beach.
